The Allen-Bradley 1771-RIO interface card is a remote I/O communication interface card that has been developed to work with different kinds of equipment that uses the RIO interface and with the output modules from the 1771 product series by Allen-Bradley. The 1771-RIO card can be mixed with different equipment as long as the equipment is compatible with different values. This interface card requires a power supply of 5 Volts DC that is provided by the I/O module. The main objective of the Allen-Bradley 1771-RIO remote I/O communication interface card is to enable RIO communication between an I/O module and different equipment. This card requires an input rating of 1 Amp. This card is an internal part that cannot be exposed to external environments and weather conditions such as rain, wind, or UV rays.
Like any other electronic device, the Allen-Bradley 1771-RIO remote I/O communication interface card requires special treatment when technicians are installing and mounting it. All the power needs to be removed from the host drive so that the card can be safely installed. Once the card has been installed and the whole set of equipment is operating, hot and humid environments need to be avoided since the electronic equipment can be easily corroded. This card comes with mounting holes so it can be secured to the module. When connecting new devices to the Allen-Bradley 1771-RIO remote I/O communication interface card, the card must be in the program mode so the users can manually add or autoconfigure different devices on the network. Remote I/O does not allow star connections. Daisy-chain configurations or trunkline-dropline configurations are the configurations that are permitted.
