About 1772-SD2

The 1772-SD2 Panel is an Allen-Bradley Remote I/O Scanner Distribution Panel. This version of the I/O Scanner for Allen-Bradley Mini PLC-2 processors comes with twice as mamy I/O points as its predecessors, with 1792 I/O points instead of the 896 I/O points of the older 1772-SD scanner. Deploying a serial network to monitor and control industrial processes or machines requires as a minimum a PLC-2 processor, a 1772-SD2 Remote I/O Scanner/Distribution Panel, a Remote I/O Adapter Module to connect the field devices, and a Twinaxial Cable link for transmitting data. The Allen-Bradley 1772-SD2 Remote I/O Scanner's function in the network is to verify the status of each sensor in the field. All data should then be sent to the PLC-2 for processing. After that, the 1772-SD2 Remote I/O Scanner will receive the responses from the PLC-2 and transmit them to the field adapters that will convert them into actionable commands so that the final actuators can modify the process variables.

The Allen-Bradley 1772-SD2 Remote I/O Scanner Distribution Panel is easy to troubleshoot because it comes with 8 bi-color rack status indicators on its front side. If no I/O chassis is connected to a given input, the corresponding indicator will remain off. When an I/O chassis is connected, and serial communication is properly established, the indicator light will turn green. If an indicator light turns red, it means that an I/O fault condition has been detected. Additional diagnostics alerts are available on the 1772-SD2 Remote I/O Scanner Distribution Panel, such as an Active Communication alert for communication between the 1772-SD2 and 1771-ABS devices, an Adapter Fault alert for a fault in the system, and an I/O Rack Fault alert for a fault in the syste. A full list of the possible combinations of indicators is shown in the manufacturer’s user manual.
