The 1784-KT2 Communication Interface Module by Allen-Bradley is an interface module which allows for communication between IBM PS/2 compatible Micro-Channel computers and the Allen-Bradley (AB) PLC–2 and PLC–3 programmable controllers and all Data Highway Plus programmable controllers. The module is installed inside an 8 or 16-bit IMBPS/2 expansion slot, and it has outputs for PLC-2, PLC-3, and Data Highway controllers. The module connects through the PLC-2, PLC-3 serial interface, and to the Data Highway Plus using the 62-pin D-shell output connector. The 1784-KT2 is designed for compatibility with the Allen-Bradley 6129, Allen-Bradley 6123, and the IBM PS/2, and supports IRQ9, IRQ10, IRQ11, and IRQ12 Hardware Interrupts, whose Interrupt level can easily be adjusted and set. The module has a Default Baud rate of 9600 which can go all the way to 19.5K for Asynchronous PLC-2 and PLC-3 controllers, and 57.6K for Synchronous Data Highway Plus. The maximum connection length to the PLC-2 and PLC-3 is 10 cable-feet (3m), and the maximum cable length for the Data Highway Plus, PLC-2, and PLC-3 is 10,000ft (3050m) at 57.6K Baud. The module’s power requirement varies between +5V DC at 0.25A with 1W power consumption, and -+12V DC, at 0.04A with 0.48W power. The 1784-KT2 has an operational temperature range between 0 and 45°C (32 and 113°F) at a relative humidity range of 5-95% without condensation, and it is designed to meet the FCC Class A Standard Requirements.
