The 1784-PCM4 cable is an Allen-Bradley Data Highway Plus network security cable. The 1784-PCM4 cable comes with an RJ45 connector and has a total length of 10 feet. The cable length from the connected PCMK card connector to the pod is 7 inches, while the length from the pod to the processor is 9.23 feet. If the 1784-PCM4 cable is connected to the processor, the DH-485 link will have a maximum of two nodes. The cable is used when connecting the 1784-PCMK/B card to the SLC5/01, the 5/02, or the 5/03Ā processors. The 1784-PCM4 cable is also used to connect the card to an Allen-BradleyĀ 1747-AIC coupler for DH-485 communication. The cable package comes with the cable itself, with one end connecting to an RJ-45 connector, and 2Ā wedges are included too. During installation, the users should verify that the wedgesĀ are connected to a computer. TheĀ wedges are important for ensuring that there is enough strain relief for the cable to prevent damage and toĀ ensure thatĀ the cable does not accidentally become disconnected. A sudden disconnection can causing damage toĀ the cable and the computer card as well.

When installing the Allen-Bradley 1784-PCM4 Data Highway Plus network security cable, it is necessary that the users ensure thatĀ the cable is attached securely to the Allen-Bradley 1784-PCMK/B card. If the users are experiencing any difficulties with the cable, they should inspect it carefully. TheĀ first thing that they should check isĀ whether the cable is properly connected, since this is the most common problem. After installation, the users should avoid bumping the cable or any hardware that is connected. Moreover, they should remove the cable gently by pinching the sidebars and carefully pulling the cable outwards.
