1785-L40C15

The Allen-Bradley 1785-L40C15 is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) from the classic PLC5 series. This controller is specifically part of the 1785 ControlNet PLC5 Programmable controllers, equipped with dual ControlNet communication interface with secondary and tertiary interfaces.

The 1785-L40C15 is designed to cater a maximum of controller memory up to 48KWords, able to handle 2048 I/Os or 2048 Input and 2048 output when operated in complimentary mode. It may be installed with memory modules to reach the memory limit. This controller is capable of implementing distributed I/O architectures with compatibility to a variety of distributed I/O platforms such as Bulletin 1771 I/O, 1794 I/O, 1746 I/O, and 1791 I/O modules, including 8-point, 16-point, 32-point, specialty and intelligent modules.

The 1785-L40C15 is equipped with a battery that is used to retain the processor’s Random Access Memory (RAM). This battery has a part number of 1770-XYC which may be replaced only when the processor is actively supplied with power.

The 1785-L40C15 also supports hot backup system through the 1785-CBHM or ControlNet Hot Backup Cartridge. This module is installed to each of the ControlNet processor rack for implementing high-speed processor switchover and data transfer.

The 1785-L40C15 has built-in communication ports such as serial, Data Highway Plus (DH+), DH using 1785-KA, Remote I/O (RIO) and ControlNet. Serial communication supports DF1 and ASCII protocol and typically used for downloading, uploading and point-to-point communication. Data Highway Plus and Remote I/O protocols are high-speed, networked protocols that supports communication with multiple devices. Similarly, ControlNet is a networked protocol however, there are Two (2) ControlNet ports installed with the 1785-L40C15 , supporting hot backup configuration.
