The 1785-L40C PLC-5/40C is an Allen-Bradley Controller with ControlNet Network Capability a 48-KB Word SRAM Processor and ControlNet capability installed on the I/O slot of the 1771 I/O Chassis, and it is used for controlling the outputs and inputs of field devices. The processor has 48KB of maximum user memory words, with a maximum I/O capacity of 2048 (with 2048 in and 2048 out complementary), and a maximum program scan time of 0.5ms per K-word measured in bit logic and the scan time is 2ms per K-word (typical). The controller draws 3.3A of backplane current at 5V DC, and its maximum heat dissipation is 59 BTU/hour when it is operational. The controller supports the 1785-CHBM ControlNet Hot Backup Cartridge, for use in a hot backup of the system, and it supports the 1771, 1794, 1746, and the 1791 8-point, 16-point, and 32-point modules, and the intelligent I/O modules. The controller has a base-configured RJ45 Connector ControlNet Network Access Port, with an I/O transmission rate of 5mb per second, and with a user selectable network update time of 2-100ms, and a Co-Processor port.
The controller also comes with an 8-pin mini-DIN connector for programming, and a 3-pin default DH+ port, and it also has a 25-pin D-shell Serial Port with selectable transmission rates that range between 57.6K bit/s and 230.4K bit/s, and a selectable scan port time between 10ms per rack at 57.6K bit/s and 3ms per rack at 230K bit/s. The 1785-L40C’s maximum thermal dissipation is 59 BTU/hour, and it is built for operation without de-rating at a temperature 0-60 oC (32-140 oF), at 5-95% noncondensing relative humidity, and the controller can be stored at –40-85 oC (–40-185 oF). The 1785-L40C can withstand a 30G operational shock, with a 1G vibration at 10-500Hz, and it has an open-style enclosure. It weighs about 1.42kg (3lbs), and it is UL, CE, CSA, and C-TICK-certified.
