The 1734-PDN module is an Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation Point I/O 1734 series DeviceNet communication interface module. The Allen-Bradley 1734-PDN is a POINT I/O DeviceNet Adapter Module and a Communication Interface Module. It has 24V DC input voltage and a field side power of 400 milliamps with an inrush current of 6 amps. This DeviceNet adapter module has a 1300 milliamps POINTBus current. The 1734-PDN has a DeviceNet Connector and 2 separate power switches, 1 for the system power and 1 for the DeviceNet power. Its dimensions are 3 x 1 x 5.25 inches. It also has status indicators.
The 1734-PDN adapter module is an ideal adapter thanks to its many convenient features. It can connect low-level devices directly to the plant-floor controllers without wasting energy by interfacing with them. The adapter module also sends diagnostic data to the user as needed, and it has more diagnostics features than other adapter modules and this improves both its fault detection and its data collection capabilities. Last but not least, it requires less wiring and less time for starting up than older hard-wired systems and it has a high level of noise resistance, making it perfect for operation on busy factory floors.
The 1734-PDN allows multiple master units on the main DeviceNet network to communicate with separate modules or groups of modules on the subnet network, so the 1734-PDN is the only adapter module that the system needs.
The 1734-PDN cannot use an expansion power supply, and the I/O modules’ total POINTBus backplane current must not exceed 1.3 A. Each of the 1734-PDN’s POINT I/O counts as a separate node on the main network.
