The Allen-Bradley 5150RS2, also known as the 5150-RS2, is a pyramid integrator remote I/O scanner module. It is used with remote I/O adapters under the 1771 series, as well as those compatible with the remote I/O link that is also manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The 5150RS2 scanner module also works with the Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley Vision Platform and the Allen-Bradley Pyramid Integration Chassis. Note that the 1771 remote I/O adapter module can be connected to plenty of universal I/O products made by Allen-Bradley and it generally comes with two switch assemblies for easier configuration, three diagnostic status indicators for its current status, adapter fault detection, and I/O rack fault detection. This scanner module has a power requirement of 5 Volts DC at 2 Amps at maximum. To connect this scanner module to a compatible I/O adapter, operators can only use a 1770-CD cable that has a maximum length of 3,048 meters or 10,000 feet.

The 5150RS2 scanner module is capable of reading and writing to the I/O image tables via the logic processor, as well as of doing scans that are asynchronous to or independent of the program scan. I/O image files are also present on this scanner module and these are used for storing input and output data, while the scanner memory stores the block-transfer control information, block-transfer control data, and internal storage data. However, the 5150RS2 scanner module does not come with a local I/O channel that can be directly linked to a 1771-ALX adapter that is found on the 1771 I/O chassis, unlike the 5150-RS5 scanner module.
