The 1745-E104 module is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation for operation with programmable logic controllers or PLCs from the Allen-Bradley SLC 100 series. It is manufactured as an expansion module that can be used to add 6 outputs and 10 inputs to a PLC. The line terminals in the 1745-E104 expansion module are all color-coded, which makes them easy to identify. It can be mounted easily and securely on a DIN Rail and it connects to the PLC that it is working with through a ribbon cable that should be kept as short as possible to reduce the chances of signal loss or interference. The input voltage rating of the 1745-E104 expansion module is 10 to 30 Volts AC at 50 to 60 Hertz.

The SLC 1745-E104 expansion unit by Allen-Bradley is compatible with SLC 100 processor/100 processor units for a variety of applications. Running on 10-30V AC at 50-60Hz, the 1745-E104 can expand the number of main circuitry connections in a device up to a maximum number of 112 and the color-coded line terminals help in identification. Assigning addresses to the I/O combinations is easy when you match the address blocks to the SLC 100/150 units. There are also 5 diagnostic indicators for external/internal warnings in the expansion unit. A ribbon cable acts as an interfacing cable between the expansion and processor units.
Use the correct length of interconnecting cables as longer cables tend to result in signal loss. There are various indicators for process identification, e.g. a green LED for DC power and red LEDs for input/outputs. The installation is easy and maintenance requires little effort. There are provisions for easy installation and maintenance using screw mounting and DIN rail mounting.
The 1745-E104 is connected to a processor unit using the ribbon cable. There are 3 available configurations in this series: basic, relay, and an analog input unit. Make sure that the wires are routed to minimize electrical noise effects. The 7 address blocks from the 112 I/O configurations are compatible with the expansion unit providing easy access to the terminal identification. Make sure all the modules within the expansion unit are having the constant power supply.
