The 1746-IG16 SLC 500 Current Sourcing Transistor-Transistor Logic Input Module by Allen-Bradley is a chassis-located module with 16 transistor-transistor inputs and has 16 points per fused common. It has a 5V DC TTL signal input and an operational voltage range of 4.5-5.5V DC (sourcing) with 50mV peak-to-peak ripple voltage. It has a backplane current rating of 0.14A at 5V DC and a maximum input signal delay time of 0.25ms for ON, and 0.5ms for OFF state. The 1746-IG16 has an OFF-state voltage range between 2 and 5.5 V DC, and an OFF-state current of 4.1mA, with an overall point input current of 3.7mA.

It has a net power dissipation of 0.02W per input points and the power dissipation on the whole module is 1W. The 1746-IG16 offers circuit electro-optical isolation tested 1500V between the control logic and input terminal and offers NEMA ICS 2-230-rated Noise immunity. It is built to withstand 2.5G operational vibration at 57-200Hz with 0.015 inches of peak displacement, and it can also withstand an operational shock of 30G. This module is a 5VDC TTL sourcing input module that is compatible for use with the SLC 500 controller platform.

TTL input modules are used to interface signal devices that operate at DC Voltage range of 4.5-5.5. This voltage signal typically comes from interfacing ports of electronic devices. This input has an inversed functionality. At -0.2 to 0.8 VDC signal level or low voltage, the input is ON.

TTL modules must be handled properly especially when installing to the SLC 500 chassis. When installing, handle the module at the ends of the unit, not with the metallic surface. This is to prevent damage caused by electrostatic discharge. Limit signal wiring to 15 m or 50 ft per point. Utilize low power DC wiring. Do not run signal wiring and communication cabling within the same duct. This module requires only One (1) slot of the SLC500 chassis and may be installed to any available slot in the chassis except slot 0 which is reserved for the SLC 500 Controller.

The 1746-IG16 is compatible of being mixed with other SLC 500 modules. However, it is recommended to properly group each module type for easier troubleshooting, better control wiring routing.
