The Allen Bradley 1746-MPM is a Mold Pressure Module. It processes and extracts cyclic injection mold data for display on a PC, and responds to an alarm set by the user to monitor critical printing parameters. The user may then set an alarm limit on higher priority parameters to detect deviations when creating components. Additionally, this unit allows a user to set the critical mold pressure to transfer the injection process every engine cycle. The Allen Bradley 1746-MPM is designed for use with SLC 5/03 (or later) processors. This module is programmed to interact with injection molding machines and has two independent channels to receive analog pressure input from the sensor or from the SLC processor in the backplane. Its operating temperature fluctuates between -25 and 60 degrees Celsius (-13 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit); its minimum nonoperating temperature is -40 degrees Fahrenheit, its maximum being 85 degrees Celsius. (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit). The relative humidity of this module ranges from 5% to 95% without condensation.

The Allen Bradley 1746-MPM processes the summary data for each print cycle and provides the previous frame for the display. This module uses I/O word 0 images for bit rate commands from SLC processors and returns bit-level status to SLC processors. The SLC processor reads the mold pressure as a count (0 to 4095) of the A/D converter module. Before operating the module for the first time, the user must download the G file to the module. This can be completed by downloading your ladder file, even if it does not contain a ladder file. The SLC processor must be in its programming mode for download.
