The Allen-Bradley 1746-OB6EI is a member of the 1746 series and a digital I/O module in the SLC 500 system. The 1746-OB6EI has 6 outputs but no inputs. This module is equipped with internal protection against short circuits and overloads current conditions. However, this module does not have any protection against reverse polarity wiring or wiring to AC power sources. Keep in mind that the internal protection in this module does not replace circuit breakers, fuses, or other code-required wiring protection devices. The 1746-OB6EI module also has an auto-reset function which allows the module to auto-reset and resume control of the output channel. During the current limit, the output channel may cool to a temperature below the thermal cut-out temperature. If you want the auto-reset operation to happen, you need to add an external mechanical fuse to open the circuit when the circuit is overloaded. The 1746-0B6EI has a lower heat dissipation than other members of the 1746 series. Its total heat dissipation is 2.9 W. The heat dissipation per point of this module is 0.44 W.
