The 1746-P5 power supply module is designed by Allen-Bradley for powering up SLC 500 controller systems in industrial environments. It does not have a jumper for selecting different input voltage ratings like some of the other SLC 500 series power supplies do. The line voltage range for the 1746-P5 power supply module is 90 to 146 Volts DC. Additionally, its 24 Volts DC user power voltage range is from 18 to 30 Volts DC. The 1746-P5 power supply module can be operated safely in all non-hazardous environments as well as in certain types of hazardous ones and its operating temperature range is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.

The Allen-Bradley 1746-P5 is an SLC 500 power supply. Measuring 145 x 74 x 140 millimeters, it has an input voltage range of 90-146V DC and a nominal input voltage of 125V DC**.** It has a maximum inrush current of 20 A and a maximum real input power of 85 W. The internal current capacity of this power supply is 5 A at 5V DC and 0.96 A at 24V DC. The user-power current capacity of this power supply is 200 mA and the user-power voltage range is from 18-30V DC at 24V DC. The backplane and input terminal isolation of the 1746-P5 power supply is 1800V AC RMS for 1 second. It also has a CPU hold-up time of 20 ms for a full load and 3000 ms for no load. The ambient operating temperature range of this power supply is from 0-60 ËšC but the current capacity is derated by 5% when the temperature is above 55 ËšC. It also has a 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity range.
One power supply will support one chassis and the LED indicator allows you to monitor the operation of the power supply. The fuse protection of the power supply, which is soldered in place and non-replaceable, is only for protection against fire hazards caused by short-circuit conditions. It uses a 1746 chassis and has an open-type enclosure.
For user-power overcurrent conditions, the 1746-P5 Series A power supply will undergo a 24V DC user shutdown while the CPU continues its operations. The recovery procedure for this is to correct the overcurrent condition.
In undercurrent conditions, where the power supply receives an input voltage that is lower than the recommended operating voltage range, the SLC 500 controllers will continue to operate for a short time. It will cease its operations when the input voltage to the power supply is cut off or the power supply still receives a lower input voltage longer than the hold-up time.
