The Allen-Bradley 1746-QV is an SLC-500 open loop velocity control module**.** Part of an SLC open-loop control system, it accepts input from a linear displacement transducer (LDT) and motion profiles that have been programmed into the SLC processor to control the placement and speed of a hydraulic ram**.** Its output varies from -10-10V DC. Extending and retracting profiles will be sent by the SLC processor and this will identify when to accelerate or decelerate the ram's hydraulic motion. Up to 7 voltages can be set for extending and retracting profiles each.

The benefits of the 1746-QV include energy savings, reduced cycle time, faster change-over of new parts, and reduced pressure spikes. Designed to support standard proportional amplifiers, this module fits into most hydraulic systems. It can be used for welder placement, hydraulic machinery, die casting machinery, pneumatic actuators, and simple non-CNC hydraulic presses.

It comes with LED indicators that can detect both RUN and FAULT conditions. This module can be installed in any available I/O slot except for slot 0. Among the LDTs compatible with the 1746-QV module are the Gemco Quick-Stick II, Temposonics II with DPM or RPM, Balluff BTL-2-L2 or BTL-2-M2, or Santest GYRP or GYRG. It also includes the following LDT inputs: +/- interrogate, +/- gate, +/- 15V DC PS, PS Common, and shield/frame. The operating temperature of the 1746-QV module is from 0-60 ËšC and the non-operating temperature is from -40-85 ËšC. It also has a non-condensing relative humidity of 5-95%.

It requires 215 mA at 5V DC from the backplane and typically 400 mA at 15V DC and 295 mA at -15V DC from an independent power supply, which also depends on the LDT. This module also has an optical isolation of 1500V AC between the backplane and LDT input. The module range is 160 inches at a module resolution of +/- 0.01 inch. Its module update time is 2 ms, the accuracy of the voltage output is within +/- 1% of its programmed value, and the analog output is 0-10V DC at 250 mA or -10-10V DC at 250 mA.
