1747-DPS1

The Allen-Bradley 1747-DPS1 is a port splitter module. This module is used to split and expand the embedded RS232 interface of an SLC 500, PLC-5, MicroLogix, ControlLogix, CompactLogix and FlexLogix controllers. This module supports DF1 communication protocol and allows simultaneously connection on both ports.

This module feature Two (2) output serial ports, with the primary port supporting two-way data exchange between the controller and the device connected to the network. The secondary port is a respond only port, ideally used with a programming workstation or a Human Machine Interface (HMI). Both output ports support DF1 full-duplex protocol and communication speed of up to 19.2 Kbps, 8 data bits, and 1 stop bit.

The 1747-DPS1 is not designed to be installed in Class I, Division 2 Group A, B, C, D Hazardous Locations. To monitor the status of the device, this splitter module comes with built with status LED indicators such as OK, Controller, Network and Prog / HMI ports. Both the output ports are 8-pin mini-DIN RS232 circular ports. The input port of this module that connects to the RS323 port of the controller is a 9-Pin mini DIN serial port.

The 1747-DPS1 is powered by an external 100 mA @ 24V dc Class2/SEL V power supply source. It has physical dimensions of 96.8 (H) x 50.6 (W) x 33.3 (D) mm (3.81 x 1.99 x 1.31 in.) without DIN rail and 96.8 (H) x 50.6 (W) x 33.3 (D) mm (3.81 x 1.99 x 1.31 in.) with DIN rail.

It uses the 8-pin DIN connector for connection and when connected to the port of a controller, it automatically sets the baud rate to either 19.2 Kbps or 38.4 Kbps and matches the controller’s CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) or BCC checksum. The 1747-DPS1 also uses its 8-pin DIN DF1 full-duplex connector port for receiving transmitted information initiated by the controller at a baud rate of 19.2 Kbps and it has a PROG/HMI port with a 9-pin male D-shell for a 19.2 Kbps baud rate/CRC checksum connection to an HMI device or a programming station. It has four status indicator lights to show the device status and it has 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit) operating temperature range at 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity. It has a T5 North America Designated temperature code and is built to withstand an operational shock of 30G and a vibration of 2G at 10-500Hz. The 1747-DPS1 can be mounted using a DIN Rail and it has dimensions of 96.8 x 50.6 x 33.3 mm (3.81 x 1.99 x 1.31 in). When mounted with a DIN Rail, and it weighs approximately 168g (0.37lb).
