The Allen Bradley 1747-L40L is a Fixed Controller and part of the SLC 500 system. It is a small, simple controller with the power and flexibility of a larger one. It consists of a processor with 1,024 words user memory, a power supply, and a fixed number of I/O.
The 1747-L40L controller requires 120/240 Volts of AC line power. It has 24 inputs with 24 Volts DC source and 16 DC transistor sink outputs, as well as a High-Speed Counter and user power of 24 Volts to 200mA. It provides a 4 microsecond bit execution time and an 8 millisecond/1K typical scan time. It has a heat dissipation ranging from 16.0 to 27.0 Watts and a maximum of 1mA Off-State leakage current, 1.5 Volts at 0.5A On-State voltage drop and 3.0 A for a 25-millisecond surge current. It uses capacitor-based RAM memory with EEPROM memory backup option. For wiring, it supports Belden 9463 cable with 14 AWG (American Wire Gauge) being the maximum size. A Hand-Held Terminal (HHT) is to be used for programming, control, and troubleshooting. To communicate it is equipped with an RS-232 port, providing a connection over long distances.
The 1747-L40L controller has a NEMA standard noise immunity and enclosure for better environmental protection. It has LED indicators for Power, PC Run, Low Battery, Forced I/O and CPU Fault. It provides extended versatility with a 2-slot expansion chassis that allows the addition of two more I/O modules, and it is intended for use in an industrial environment, functioning at 0 to 60 degrees Celsius with a vibration acceleration of 2.5 G at 57 to 2000 Hertz.
