The Allen-Bradley 1747-L40P is a fixed controller module that is part of the SLC 500 Fixed Hardware Style series. This compact module offers the power and flexibility of large controllers without the bulk and complexity. It ships with a processor with a 1,024 (1K) instruction capacity, fixed I/O’s, and a power supply. It has a 120 to 240 Volts AC line power and uses the Belden 946 cable and 6-Pin Phoenix connector.
The 1747-L40P Basic Fixed Controller has an I/O configuration consisting of 24 to 240 Volt AC inputs and 16 AC Triac outputs. The inputs feature 12 mA at 240 Volts AC nominal input current, 50 Volts AC maximum off-state voltage, 1.6 A peak inrush current, 2mA maximum off-state current, and frequency range of 47 to 63 Hertz. The Triac output has 85 to 265 Volts AC output voltage, a continuous current of 0.5 Amp at +30 degrees Celsius (per output) and 0.25 Amp at +60 degrees Celsius (maximum), and 10 mA minimum load current. An optional 2-slot expansion chassis lets you add 2 additional I/O modules for enhanced versatility. Backplane power for these optional expansion chassis modules is provided by the power supply.
The 1747-L40P Controller and its enclosure must be properly wired and grounded to limit the effects of noise caused by EMI or electromagnetic interference. To allow convection cooling within the enclosure, recommended allowance is 6 inches for top and bottom, and 4 inches for both sides. For most applications, following the minimum spacing is enough to keep the controller within specified operating range.
