The Allen-Bradley 1747-SCNR SLC ControlNet Scanner Module acts as an interface between the ControlNet device and the SLC processor. This module communicates with the ControlNet device over the network. This module can communicate with the processor in the form of M1/M0 File Transfers and Discrete I/O (DIO). M1/M0 file transfer is a method for moving large amounts of data between SLC 500 processors and this module. The Allen-Bradley 1747-SCNR also follow some Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standards. This cable has passed the EN 50082-2 EMC /- Generic Immunity Standard, Part 2 - Industrial Environment. If you are connecting or disconnecting the ControlNet cable with the power applied, an electric arc can occur. This may cause an explosion in the installation of hazardous locations. Make sure the power is disconnected and that the area is not dangerous before continuing. The Allen-Bradley 1747-SCNR has a maximum backplane current of 900 mA at 5V DC. The operating temperature of the 1747-SCNR is 0-60 Deg. Celsius (32-140 deg. Fahrenheit). The storage temperature is -40-85 deg. Celsius (-40-185 deg. Fahrenheit). The relative humidity is 5-95% without condensation. The operating shock of this module is 30 g and the nonoperating shock is 50 g.
The 1747-SCNR is provided with Two (2) ControlNet ports, labeled as Channel A and Channel B. To establish connection to this port, ControlNet taps are required such as 1786-TPR Right angle T-Tap, 1786-TPS Straight T-Tap, 1786-TPYR Right Angle Y-Tap, and 1786-TPYS straight Y-Tap. To connect to the main ControlNet trunkline. The ControlNet trunkline used RG-6 Duad Shield cable with catalog number 1786-RG6. Additionally, BNC connectors may be needed to secure connection to the tapping ports. If an extended length of ControlNet media is required, coaxial repeaters may be used with catalog number 1786-RPCD. To simplify ControlNet connection, ControlNet Coax Tool Kit may be used.
The 1747-SCNR ControlNet address may be set from 01-99 with default value of 00. This default address is not a valid address which means, module default address requires modification. ControlNet address may be set via the provided rotary switches located on top of the scanner.
When installing this module, ensure that power is removed from the SLC 500 chassis. Never attempt to install this under power as electric arc may be generated, damaging the SLC500 electronic bus and nearby SLC500 modules. Additionally, never touch the electronic circuitry of the 1747-SCNR.

The 1747-SCNR has Two (2) ControlNet ports.
Yes. It can be used in non-redundant and redundant ControlNet media.
The redundant ControlNet media uses 1786-RG6.
The Allen-Bradley 1747-SCNR is a SLC 500 ControlNet Scanner Module. This ControlNet Scanner Module has 1746 Backplane Communication and is compatible with the following processors: SLC 5/02, 5/03, 5/04, 5/05.
You will have to buy or make this cable, a simple look at a manual should give all the necessary information
Communicates with every rack-mounted SLC processor, including the SLC 5/02, 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05.
Capable of scanning I/O while in the processes of operating.
The 1747-SCNR is an SLC500 ControlNet module. This module supports linear and redundant ControlNet for implementing high-availability ControlNet network however, ControlNet is fairly an old and discontinued technology. Lesser control systems are using this protocol. With the modern era, Ethernet is the utilized and popular protocol.
