MVI46-DFNT

The MVI46-DFNT is an INRAX client/server communication module. The communication module is SLC-backplane compatible which enables SLC processors to be connected with devices using explicit messaging over an Ethernet/IP. With the industrial environment investing heavily in Ethernet/IP technology, the MVI46-DFNT provides a centralized point to simply interface the SLCs with Ethernet/IP network applications. The communication module is capable of sending, reading, or writing commands to remote devices. The MVI46-DFNT uses 20 servers to allow for the remote interfacing of the remote devices. The MVI46-DFNT is ideal for use in food processing, petrochemical, automobile, and wood pulp and paper manufacturing. The module exerts a current load of 800 milliamperes at 5 Volts on the backplane. The MVI46-DFNT has an operating shock of 30 G and a 50 G non-operational shock. The module has LED status indicators which help in monitoring the module status, application status, serial activity, and backplane transfer status, among others. The MVI46-DFNT allows configuration through the use of the RJ45 RS-232 connector which is connected to the RJ45 ports available on the module. The ports are used for connecting Ethernet modules, for debugging and configuration, emulating channel 0 on the SLC, etc. The MVI46-DFNT can handle a maximum of 100 user commands from a single client. The module can function as a client or a server, it supports user-definable module memory usage, and it accommodates a maximum of 4000 SLC registers. To transfer data between the processor and the MVI46-DFNT, M0 and M1 files are used.

The Allen-Bradley MVI46-DFNT is an InRax module that is manufactured by Prosoft Technology, a 3rd party company that offers Allen-Bradley compatible modules. This module is an encompass partner module that supports direct mounting to an SLC500 rack. It is a single slot module that is used to provide Ethernet connectivity and client / server communication capability via explicit messaging. This Ethernet I/P module is compatible for use with SLC500 processors such as SLC 5/02, M0/M1 capable processors or newer.

The MVI46-DFNT has a variety of communication ports, easily accessible behind the module’s swing door. The communication ports include One (1) Configuration port (CFG PORT) with RJ45 physical interface (DB 9M with supplied cable), capable of RS232 standard only without hardware handshaking. It also has One (1) configuration connector that has a physical interface of RJ45 RS232 connector with the appropriate RJ45 to DB-9 cable delivered with the module. The application port includes One (1) Ethernet I/P port with electrical isolation of 1500 V rms at 50 Hz to 60 Hz for 60 s and Ethernet broadcast storm resiliency of l ess than or equal to 5000 [ARP] frames-per-second and less than or equal to 5 minutes duration.

The MVI46-DFNT has power a Current load of 800 mA @ 5V. This is received by the module through the backplane. This module has embedded LED status indicators that is used to depict the Module status, Backplane transfer status, Application status, Serial activity (debug port), Ethernet link and activity, and error LED status.
