The ProSoft MVI46-HART HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer) Multi-drop Master Communication Module is a backplane compatible module in the ProSoft family of industrial communication modules, which allows a compatible SLC processor to interface easily HART communication protocol supported devices. This module features 15 user configurable HART channels which can interface up to 15 HART supported devices to the SLC processor, and of these 15 channels, 4 supports master configuration for interface with slave devices on the network. It is installed on a 1746 compatible local or extended I/O rack and draws 800 milli-Amps maximum backplane current at 5 Volt DC.

As an input and output module, the MVI46-HART has access to processor memory for transfer of data between the module and the processor, and user-defined ladder logic is utilized for data transfer between processor and module. It has 4 independent and configurable master ports, built to meet the HART Bell 202 Frequency Shift Keying standard, and each port is designed to support up to 15 devices with a point to point or multi-drop configuration. The MVI46-HART supports up to 99 common and universal port commands, and monitors devices using floating point, integer, and ASCII data blocks. Configuration and debugging are achieved via an RS-232 CFG (configuration) port and an RS-232 RJ45 connector cable, and it has 2 serial application ports (PRT1 and PRT2) for connection to RS-232/422/485 supported serial modules. The MVI46-HART has an ambient operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degree Celsius (32 to 140 degree Fahrenheit), and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degree Celsius.
