SLC505

The SLC 505 programmable controller module by Allen-Bradley is a chassis-based compact processor module from the SLC 500 control module system family that is designed to provide an enhanced solution to stand-alone or distributed industrial control systems. The SLC 505 processor module features high-speed processing capability, a battery-backed CMOS RAM, up to 64 K word programming memory size, high-speed processing of up to 0.9 microseconds per Kilo-word, multiple communication interfaces for high-speed communication, a built-in internal clock with critical application time-stamps, and Ladder-logic and structured-text programming. The SLC 505 is installed in slot 0 of the 1746 chassis, and it has a maximum backplane draw current rating of 1 Amp at 5 Volts DC. A single SLC 500 system can be configured for up to 3 local chassis and up to 30 I/O modules on a single processor module. The SLC 505 processor can provide control for up to 4096 discrete local I/O and 4096 remote I/O. Unlike the SLC 504 controllers, the SLC 505 module comes with the standard onboard Ethernet communication port that provides high-speed communication at 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps for enhanced network programming, online editing, peer-to-peer messaging, and high-speed PC communication via TCP/IP. The SLC 505 module also has built-in RS-232, 422, and 423 communication ports that provide local and remote point-to-point communication, DH-485 connectivity, MODBUS RTU master communication with compatible Modbus slave devices, and connection to ASCII inputs and output devices. It has a 64K flash EEPROM option with write protection capability for non-volatile memory back-up.

These includes the 1747-L551 which features 16K user memory, 1747-L552 with 32K user memory and 1747-L553 with 64K user memory. These controller products are provided with Ethernet I/P and RS232 communication ports, used for hardware configuration, programming, testing, online edits and communication.

The SLC 5/05 product family features a common assembly and housing, It is a single-slot module that is mounted on the left-most slot, beside the power supply. All controllers within the SLC 5/05 product range may be installed with optional memory modules such as 1747-M13 which is a 64 K, Flash EPROM Memory Module. It may also be used with the Program Storage Device (PSD).
