The 2707-DNC is an Allen-Bradley DeviceNet Handheld configurator. This module is used to configure Devicenet capable devices that are connected to an existing DeviceNet network or instruments that will be installed to a DeviceNet network in the future. This handheld device provides portability as it permits configuration in the field or near the target device. The 2707-DNC is provided with a 2-line LCD readout with each message line capable of displaying up to 16 characters each. The display screen measures 0.22 x 0.12 in (5.56 x 2.96 mm) with character format of 5 x 7 dot matrix. It is illuminated by a Yellow-green LED, fixed intensity backlight component with a fixed contrast. For entering configuration, confirming the selection, and navigating through the parameter list, this configurator has color-coded tactile embossed, domed, and sealed membrane keypads with a recommended actuation force of 16 0z (453 grams) and 1 million presses operational life. To communicate with DeviceNet instruments, the 2707-DNC is installed with a circular port RS232 interface that supports DeviceNet transmission speeds of 125k, 250k, 500k at a maximum communication distance of 50 ft or 15 meters. Compatible communication cables for use with the 2707-DNC are 2707-NC13 Network cable with bare leads; 2707-NC14 Network cable with Micro-connector (Male); 2707-NC15 Network cable with Micro-connector (Female); 2707-NC16 Network power cable and 2707-NC8 Upload/download cable. The 2707-DNC is powered by an external supply voltage of 11-25 VDC. A power jack port is provided beside the communication interface to allow connection to an external adapter. Compatible adapters are 120 VAC power supply, AC to DC adapter with catalog number 2707-PS120H and 220 VAC power supply, AC to DC adapter with catalog number 2707-PS220.

The Allen-Bradley 2707-DNC is a hand-held configuration device that aids in the installation and setup of individual devices within a DeviceNet network. The 2707-DNC has a message display feature that can accommodate a two-line memo along with a yellow-green, LED-backlit LCD with 16-character display size. The size of the display is compact for urgent messaging needs, it measures roughly 0.58 x 2.35 inches. The 2707-DNC operates on a current of roughly 24 Volts DC. The 2707-DNC utilizes an ASCII input and it possesses RS-232 communication ports. Since the function of the configurator does not require an enclosure, it is not included with the device. The 2707-DNC is an indispensable feature of DeviceNet systems. These networks are often configured with the aid of personal computers that are running a configuration program and the DeviceNet Interface, but the 2707-DNC offers a faster, more efficient alternative to this method. These devices ensure a faster transfer of information and a more systematic flow of menus and commands. The 2707-DNC not only minimizes the chances of human error but also speeds up the data flow of a system. The keypad can be linked to the configurator to respond and detail information when needed. It is the presence of the configurator that ensures quick communications between all the devices and rapid data sharing within a network. The 2707-DNC is the brain behind the links existing inside the operations of a DeviceNet system.
