The 2711-B6C2 terminal is an Allen-Bradley PanelView 600 operator terminal. The DH-485 terminals are capable of point-to-point communication with a single SLC 500 or MicroLogix controller. The 2711-B6C2 is compatible for use with the 1747-UIC communication adapter for connecting the 2711-B6C2 to a DH485 network. It also includes a keypad and a touchscreen on the HMI for input interface.

The 2711-B6C2 is powered with an external voltage supply range of 85 - 264 VAC. It is installed with an internal memory amounting to 240 KB. The 2711-B6C2 has an internal processor with speed up to 1 GHz. This module’s HMI display is measures 5 inches diagonally, with a field replaceable backlight, and comes with a full-color graphics. The screen transition rate for the 2711-B6C2 is up to 70% faster than it is for other terminals and it comes with an increased memory capacity ranging from 64 MB of RAM to 256 MB of RAM. The flash storage space is increased from 64 MB to 512 MB and it includes 80 MB of nonvolatile storage memory for applications.

The 2711-B6C2 offers a single communication port supporting DH485 protocol. DH485 is a legacy communication protocol, which is especially designed for factory-floor communication. The embedded DH485 is basically an RS232 serial interface which supports peer-to-peer communication. If planning to implement multi-node communication, the 2711-B6C2 must be connected to a DevoceNet network with the use of the 1747-UIC interface converter. This allows the 2711-B6C2 to connect to a DH485 network in daisy-chain topology.

With the colored display screen, colored animations may be implemented which provide greater operational detail and status. This colored animation may follow regional or international standards as well as depict plant-specific color coding. Typically, this colored animation may be used with motors, pumps, valves, indicating lamps and lights, equipment and instrument status, alarms and events. The display screen comes with a halogen lit backlight with a lifespan of 50,000 hr 1/2 life at 25 °C (77 °F).

Operators may choose where to input commands and interactions. Interaction may be done through the keypad assembly or the touch sensitive screen. These interfaces may be used in an alternate manner. It is not recommended to operate these interfaces simultaneously as it may result to unwanted machine or process behavior.
