The 2711-T9C8 is part of the PanelView Standard operator terminal of Allen-Bradley that functions as a Human Machine Interface (HMI) device, allowing plant operators to monitor and control an industrial machine or process through the 6-inch colored display screen with touch input interface.

The 2711-T9C8 features an electronic hardware which is highly scalable and accepts custom design of process mimic to accurately represent the important control points of the connected system. It also enables integration of data and logic that is stored inside a Programmable Logic Controller’s (PLC), Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) memory as well as converters and protocol gateways. This is implemented using the device’ embedded Data Highway Plus (DH+) using a 3-wire, Allen-Bradley 1770-CD or Belden 9463 blue hose cable. This protocol is able to cover up to 3048 m (10,000 ft) at a communication rate of 57.6K, 115.2K, 230.4K.

The 2711-T9C8 is also capable of communicating serially with a printer device for physical documentation and historization of the operator terminal’s alarm and events database. This allows later study and analysis which can be practically used in presentation and analysis of the performance of the connected control system.
