The Allen-Bradley 2711P-T6M20D is a PanelView Plus 600 operator terminal. This operator terminal is also known as a Human Machine Interface (HMI) or Man Machine Interface (MMI) in most plants. This is the general term for this product that refers to an electronic device, typically flush mounted and provides real-time monitoring and control of industrial machines and processes. This device actively communicates with controllers and partner automation devices particularly Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC), 3rd party HMIs, gateways and other electronic devices.

The 2711P-T6M20D features a 5.5-inch display screen, with resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and display area of 112 x 84 mm (4.4 x 3.3 in.). This operator terminal is provided with a non-replaceable backlight with luminance of 300 cd/m2 Nits. The minimum operating lifespan of this backlight is 50,000 hrs. This HMI device has is equipped with touch sensitive cells embedded along the display screen. These touch cells are analog resistive cells with actuation rating of 1 million presses at recommended actuation force of 10-110g. To maximize the touchscreen operation, it is recommended to use a stylus or operate this HMI with a gloved finger. This prevents industrial contaminants such as dust, dirt, water, oil and grease from direct contact with the display.

For exchanging data with partner controllers, the 2711P-T6M20D has a variety of communication ports embedded to the hardware. It has One (1) Ethernet, One (1) RS-232 and Two (2) USB ports. The Ethernet port is ideal for use in modern, multi-node and user-friendly protocol Ethernet I/P. The RS232 ports support serial-based protocols such as DF1 and DH485 protocols, ideal for short range communication. The USB port is more of a peripheral port wherein external input and output devices may be connected such as mouse and keyboard.

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 2711P-T6M20D terminal has an operating temperature rated between 0 and 55 degrees Celsius. However, when not in operation, the manufacturer recommends a storage environment with an ambient temperature of between -25 degrees Celsius and a 70 degrees Celsius. Also, when it is being stored and when it is in operation, the 2711P-T6M20D terminal should be subject to an ambient surrounding non-condensing relative humidity of between 5 and 95%. For optimal operation, the terminal should not be operated at an altitude exceeding 2000 meters above sea level.
