About Panelview Plus 6
The Panelview Plus 6 series is a series of operator interface terminals that are used as human-machine interfaces in industrial applications. The Panelview Plus 6 terminals feature displays that range from 4 to 15 inches in display sizes. The Panelview Plus 6 devices are used for application monitoring and control. The terminals also act as display panels, show graphical information, and let the application operators closely monitor the applications’ performance. The Panelview Plus 6 units are preprogrammed to use various development software. These units are also designed as multilingual units and they integrate into other systems easily. The Panelview Plus 6 units support the preferred Logix Controllers and they are commonly used with automation controllers. The Allen-Bradley controller interfaces feature the Windows CE operating systems and they provide foundational OS elements.
The Panelview Plus 6 terminals can be programmed to run open or closed desktop environments. The open system launches the Windows Explorer desktop on startup while the closed system launches the FactoryTalk® View Machine Edition application software on startup. The Panelview Plus 6 units support desktop configuration, allowing for system and control panel operations from the desktop. The Panelview Plus 6 series features terminals with optional extended features that can additionally run viewers and media players, and they can also launch the web browser. The Panelview Plus 6 series supports serial ports for controller communication, printing, and file transfers. These control terminals feature 1 USB port each for attaching the USB peripherals that include a mouse, keyboard, printer, and other external devices. The Panelview Plus 6 terminals also support a secure digital card that is used for file transfer and for upgrading the software.
PanelView Plus 6 Incorrect Start-Up
If the PanelView Plus 6 terminal is not starting up correctly always check for adequate power first. Inadequate power can cause a variety of unpredictable behavior. Simply verify the PanelView Plus 6 terminal's power requirement in the specifications table. If the indicator lights do not turn on, either the power supply or the logic module has failed. It is also good practice to determine whether there have been any changes since the last startup. Determine what these are to see if they can be reversed.
Battery voltage, as well as processor and display temperatures, are indicative of other potential issues as well. Check the battery voltage, CPU and display temperatures from the PanelView Plus 6 terminal desktop or from the FactoyTalk View ME station configuration mode. If the voltage is below 2.75 volts DC, consider replacing the battery. Obstructed airflow in the chassis can cause the CPU and/or display to overheat. If the CPU temperature is above 95 degrees Celsius or the display temperature is above 55 degrees Celsius, try to moderate the ambient temperatures.
If you continue have start-up issues with your PanelView Plus 6 terminal, observe the splash screen for state messages and for the status or error codes.

PanelView Plus 6 Status Indicators
Power indicators are located on the front of the PanelView 6 Terminal; they communicate the system status. The green LED indicator lets the operator know the system is running and the display is on, whereas the red LED indicator shows that the system is running but the display is in screen saver mode.
There are also two indicators on the back of the PanelView Plus 6 terminal, which help the operator identify operating issues. The Green Comm indicator reflects communication issues while the red Fault indicator reflects hardware faults. The table below helps identify potential problems if the terminal fails during startup.

If the PanelView Plus 6 display lacks a touch screen, you may not have a touch screen display. Check the label on the terminal and the part number of the unit to verify.
Please Note: When calibrating your touch screen, the process requires five (5) screen touches. If the touches are not satisfactory, more will be requested until calibration is successful. If the touch screen does not calibrate or continues to malfunction replace the touch screen display for PanelView Plus 6 700-1500 models. Replace the entire PanelView Plus 6 terminal for 400-600 models.

Reload PanelView Plus 6 Factory Settings
If your PanelView Plus 6 terminal failed a firmware update, you will need to reset the terminal to its factory settings.
Re-Set Process:
- Press/hold Default switch (located on the back of the logic module) and simultaneously press and release the Reset switch.
- Once you have released the Reset switch, release the Default switch. This will bring you to the maintenance menu.
- Select "Special BOOT Action - None"
- Select "Special BOOT Action - Restore Factory Defaults"
- Select "Continue booting with selected options"
- Press Enter on your keyboard. This will begin the default reset process
