The UD51 by Control Techniques is designed to function as a second encoder option module for the Unidrive series, specifically tailored for Unidrive Classic compatibility. It falls within the small module category, making it easy to incorporate into existing setups.

This module supports a maximum operating frequency of 210 kHz when working in quadrature mode, boosting its functionality in precision applications. For frequency and direction inputs, the frequency can reach up to 420 kHz, enhancing its versatility for diverse control scenarios. Operating modes include closed-loop vector and closed-loop servo, providing flexible solutions for motion control.

Connections are made through a 16-way screw-terminal block that accommodates various setups smoothly. In terms of electrical limits, the UD51 can accept input voltages of ±15V relative to 0V and differential voltages up to ±25V. The maximum voltage on the output terminals does not exceed ±14V, coupled with an absolute output current rating of ±200mA, offering reliable performance across its operating conditions.

The module is also designed for environmental resilience, operating effectively within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 °C. It supports a minimum power-up temperature of -10 °C, ensuring functionality in cooler environments. Additionally, the UD51 module can tolerate a humidity level of 95% RH without condensation, and its storage temperature range spans from -40 °C to 50 °C, cementing its suitability for various industrial settings.
