S801 Soft Starters

Eaton Cutler-Hammer S801 Soft Starters

The Eaton S801 Soft Starters are designed with space-saving features that make them among the most compact and smallest soft starters in the market. Therefore, the S801 Soft Starters can perfectly fit into existing Wye-Delta starters systems, soft starter designs, or across-the-line contactors. With such features, the S801 Soft Starters reduce costs since they can fit in existing mounting structures and this eliminates the need to provide new structures to house these soft starters. This line of soft starters features reduced voltage. The Eaton S801 Soft Starters are easy to mount, install, and program. Additionally, this series of soft starters are multifunctional and they are designed to be interfaced with 3-phase motors to control the motors’ acceleration and deceleration. These soft starters are available in various current ratings. However, this family of soft starters accommodates applications with a current rating ranging from a minimum of 11 Amps to a maximum of 1000 Amps. The S801 Soft Starters function with all industrial motors with ratings of anywhere from fractional Horsepower to 1000 Amps of steady-state current.

For mounting, the S801 Soft Starters can be mounted in the motors in enclosed control applications or in the motor control centers. The S801 Soft Starters provide protection against overloads. Additionally, the built-in overload is capable of offering additional protective functionalities to give improved motor protection. Note that the Eaton S801 Soft Starters are the best choice for pump control applications. This is because this series of soft starters provide a smooth transition for stopping motors, thus eliminating the “water hammer” effect that is capable of damaging pumps, valves, and pipes. The S801 Soft Starters have overtemperature protection which makes the starters shut down when the temperature reaches 100 degrees Celsius. Other functionalities available with the S801 Soft Starters include stall detection, jam detection, phase loss protection, phase reversal, kick start, and ramp start functions. The kick start provides a current kick of over 550% of the full load current to start the starters and the motors they control.
