The S811+T30P3S soft starter from the Eaton Corporation is a 304 Amps rated 3-pole soft starter with a pump control option. It is part of the S811+ series of soft starters which is a series of electronic, self-contained motor-starting devices which can be panel or enclosure-mounted. The S811 soft starters are engineered for providing a smooth start to 3-phase induction type motors. The S811 soft starters use 6 SCRs in a full-wave power bridge configuration. The S811+T30P3S soft starter is available in a T Frame enclosure (200 millimeters). When the S811+T30P3S soft starter is used as a soft-starter for 3-phase loads for in-line/in-delta configuration and with 200 to 600 Volts AC mains supply voltage, the assigned motor ratings are as follows: 90 kilowatts at 230 Volts AC and 50 Hertz frequency, 100 Horsepower at 230 Volts AC and 60 Hertz frequency, 160 kilowatts at 400 Volts AC and 50 Hertz frequency, and 250 Horsepower at 460 Volts AC and 60 Hertz frequency. The S811+T30P3S soft starter comes with an integrated communication port which can be used for Modbus communication or for communicating with an HMI. Communication adapters are also available for Ethernet, DeviceNet, and ProfiBus networks. Also available on the unit is a Digital Interface Module (DIM) which allows for device configuration and troubleshooting. The DIM comprises a display and a keyboard. The dimensions of the S811+T30P3S soft starter are 164.4 x 194.4 x 322.9 millimeters and its weight is 41 pounds. To mount the unit, a minimum of 6 Grade 5 bolts with 0.25-inch diameter sand which have a minimum length of 0.625 inches are needed. The recommended torque for the bolts is 30 pounds on an inch. Applications for the S811+T30P3S soft starter include pump, machine tool, and chiller applications which require less than 100% of the rated starting torque of the motor for the worst-case starting conditions.

The S811+T30P3S is an Eaton manufactured Soft-starter device. This device is primarily used with 3-Phase motors for controlling and managing start-up and stopping behavior with the primary goals of protecting the motor from unwanted mechanical stress, lowering energy consumption and improved operability. This motor starter supports Kick start, Current Limit Start, Soft Stop and Pump Stop stopping functions as well as integrated with Pump control algorithm that is mainly used to prevent water hammer in a system using centrifugal pumps. This feature is factory installed that is defined by the ”P” indication in the catalog number. The S811+T30P3S and with protection rating of IP20 and IP00 for the terminals.

The S811+T30P3S mains terminal are designed for wiring of 200-600 VAC supply voltage. It has a rated operational current of 304 Amperes @ AC-53 [Ie] and 526 Amperes for AC-53, In-Delta [Ie] while the assigned motor rating is 160 kW @ 400 VAC, 50 Hz and 250 HP @ 460 V, 60 Hz for in-Line, Standard connection.

The S811+T30P3S is provided with embedded Digital Interface Module (DIM) for local operation and configuration. It also has one (1) MODBUS communication port which can be used for communicating the drive to Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. It also comes with input and output terminals for wiring of stop (permissive); Start, Jog and Reset buttons while indicating devices may be connected to Form A, Normally Open (N.O.) contact for bypass indication; one (1) Form C contacts used for device Ready (Normally Close) and Fault (Normally Open).
