The D100 Series of Micro PLCs from Cutler-Hammer are programmable, small-sized, fairly priced controllers that come in a variety of configurations to suit multiple of applications. Each D100 controller’s CPU has a 1K RAM (EEPROM or UV PROM) installed with 16 timers, an 8 millisecond scan time per 1K of memory, 16 counters, a 256 steps sequence, and a 128 step register. Each controller can be programmed directly through the use of a Personal Computer, or alternatively, through the use of this module’s hand-held programmer. The D100 family of controllers range in I/O from 14 I/O to 120 I/O and the basic controllers come in four varieties, which are 14 I/O, 20 I/O, 40 I/O and 40 I/O high speed.
The D100ERA40, however, is an expander, which can be used to expand the I/O in any of the above-mentioned controllers, in order to increase the number of I/O, provided that the maximum I/O capacity of the controller is not exceeded. This expander can be mounted in the same protective unit as that of the controller, with the controller mounted either at the top of the expander or to its right. Short connecting cables, which carry high-speed signals, are used to connect the D100ERA40 to the controller or to another expander. The connection cables must be flat, not twisted, and connected by the most direct and shortest possible path to equipment in question. The D100ERA40 is a 40 I/O expander with a 30-centimeter cable (for connection to the controller or the other expanders). It has 40 I/O, which are divided into twenty-four 115 Volt AC inputs and sixteen relay type outputs. This module is also powered by 115 Volts AC. The D100ERA40 can be mounted in any direction, (vertical or horizontal), directly to the panel or onto a DIN rail. Ensure that the cables are correctly connected, as failure to do so may damage to controller and or expander.
