The Field Control IC670CHS103 base is an I/O base unit that is intended for usage with other Field Control units that are manufactured by GE Fanuc. The I/O terminal blocks that can be installed on this base unit includes terminals that are used for barriers and it supports the safe installation of modules in order to avoid the generation of the wrong kind of data. The IC670CHS103 base unit allows for the insertion and removal of modules with the power on in a manner which does not affect other devices that are installed on the I/O station. In other words, the power does not have to be turned off in order to change the modules on the terminal block. The IC670CHS103 base unit is compatible with the field control units in the IC670, IC670CH, and IC670CHS series.

The IC670CHS103 I/O base unit provides various keying locations for module installation and it includes a kit of all the necessary keys and tools. The I/O terminal block has keying slots and key clips that help with hassle-free module installation. The IC670CHS103 base unit supports installation in environments with Class I, Division 2, Groups A/B/C/D ratings, which are general non-hazardous environments. The equipment can be used within hazardous areas too, but the unit needs to be turned off before any actions like the removal or replacement of the modules that it hosts take place. The IC670CHS103 unit operates on a voltage of 115 Volts AC or 125 Volts DC and it has an input frequency of 47 to 63 Hertz. The unit consumes 48 Volt-Amps or 24 Watts of power, depending on the type of power source that is used. The base unit has an inrush current of 20 Amps at its peak and it requires up to 20 milliseconds for the hold up time.
