The IC693PBS201 is a Profibus Slave module from the Series 9030 PLC, formerly by GE Fanuc Automation now under Emerson Automation. This module enables the implementation of distributed I/O architecture as it is installed to any Series 90-30 baseplate, acting as a remote adapter for its hosted I/O modules. It can send and receive up to 244 Bytes of input and 244 Bytes of output data to and from the designated Profibus master over the Profibus communication network at transmission speeds of 9.6 kbps, 19.2 kbps, 93.75 kbps, 187.5 kbps, 500 kbps, 1.5Mbps, 3 Mbps, 6Mbps and 12 Mbps. This module comes with Two (2) communication interfaces in the form of 9 pins D-shell connectors. One port of this module functions as the service port, enabling module firmware modification. Another port of this module supports Profibus communication, acting as Profibus Slave. For module configuration, software requirements include using Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer Version 2.6 or later and must be installed with CPU version 8.00 or later. This module occupies a single slot of the base plate and has a current draw of 450 mA at 5VDC. It can communicate at a maximum of 1200 meters with a Profibus Copper cable or up to 6 Km when used with a Profibus to the Fiber media converter. Compatible cable types include Belden 3079A Profibus cable, Siemens 6XV1 Profibus Cable series, and Bosch Comment Flexible, Trailing, and Massive Profibus Cable. For a segment that exceeds the supported distance, Profibus repeaters may be installed to boost data and extend the segment.

The GE Fanuc IC693PBS201 Profibus DP Slave Module Card allows for the connection of a GE Fanuc Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller into a PROFIBUS DP network as a slave device, that is, a secondary PLC that sends and receives data from the network’s master PLC to expand the processing power of the system as a whole. Users can customize the control algorithm and configure the programs stored in the slave PLC by using version 2.6 or later of the GE Fanuc Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer software. Like most of the GE Fanuc 90-30 series accessory cards, the IC693PBS201 Profibus DP Slave Module Card can be installed in any of the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 baseplate slots, except for the first one that is reserved for power supply installation. The manufacturer strongly recommends mounting this communication card inside a protective enclosure in order to guarantee correct operational conditions by controlling the exposure of the device to extreme temperatures, humidity, or dust. The GE Fanuc IC693PBS201 Profibus DP Slave Module Card does not support the Sync and Freeze modes of operation because it is designed for use in a slave PLC that will transmit or receive data on request from another PLC, known as the master PLC. Firmware updates can be downloaded into the IC693PBS201 Profibus DP Slave Module Card by using an RS-232 serial port located at the back of its cover.
