Manufactured by GE Intelligent Platforms/GE Fanuc, the IC200MDD842 discrete mixed I/O module is part of the Versamax product line. This module combines discrete inputs and outputs in one device and it provides up to 32 I/O points that are divided into 3 groups. One group has 16 discrete outputs, while the 2 other groups have 8 discrete inputs each. These input points are either positive or negative logic inputs, which means the current is received from the common then sent to input devices or received from the input devices then sent to the common. The IC200MDD842 module needs to be upgraded to the IC200MDD842B module version to support its negative logic function. It features discrete outputs with electronic short circuit protection. This module does not support channel isolation. However, it provides protection mechanisms to the output points such as electronic overcurrent protection, free-wheeling diodes, and short circuit protection.
The GE Fanuc IC200MDD842 discrete mixed I/O module comes with diagnostic functions that help with detecting problems like shorts or overloads and that also aid in generating fault messages in case of such conditions. Every output and input point on the IC200MDD842 module corresponds to an LED indicator. The LED indicators show the current status of each of the input and output points with green and amber colors that are used to show different input and output statuses. Each of the output and input points operate on a nominal voltage of 24 Volts DC. Also, each of the output and input points has a load current of 0.5 Amps for 30 Volts DC voltage. The response time for input and output points is measured at 0.5 milliseconds.
