Johnson Controls produced the AS-VAV141-1, a variable air volume (VAV) controller originating from the Metasys FA sequences elements. It is intended to regulate VAV boxes, commonly used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications to maintain optimum ventilation and temperature regulation in various zones. Without the enclosure, the controller's physical dimensions are 165mm in height, 163mm in width, and 51mm in depth. The enclosure adds 173mm to the height, 185mm to the width, and 119mm to the depth; together, diminutive proportions facilitate installation and integration within VAV cabinets and control panels. The AS-VAV141-1 controller is compatible with the N2 bus, which offers an isolated communication interface for communicating with other control system devices. The AS-VAV141-1's termination option is screw terminals, allowing for secure and convenient electrical connections. The controller provides eight analog inputs compatible with various sensors, including RTD temperature elements, 0 to 10VDC transmitters, two kilo-ohms setpoints, and potentiometers. This permits precise measurement and control of a variety of parameters. In addition, it has four binary inputs that can receive signals from dry contacts or a zone sensor's momentary press button. These inputs allow the controller to receive control and monitoring signals from the outside world. This AS-VAV141-1 outputs consist of 0/2 analog outputs that generate 0 to 10VDC signals at 10 milliamps. It also has 8/6 binary outputs with options for 24VAC rated TRIAC that can deliver up to 0.5 amps of current. These outputs permit the control of actuators and other VAV system components. This controller operates with an input frequency of 50/60 hertz and a voltage supply of 24V AC. It is specified to require 10 VA (volt-amp) in addition to the burdens of the binary outputs.
