Johnson Controls manufactured the MS-VMA1610-0 controller/actuator, a variable air volume (VAV) product from the Metasys MS family that operates on a class 2 power supply. It can handle a maximum current of 2.5 amps and runs at a nominal supply voltage of 24 volts AC (alternating current). This device regulates and controls airflow in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) facilities. It has a universal input that accepts signals in a variety of formats, such as 0-10V DC, 0 to 600 kilo-ohms, or binary dry contact signals. This adaptability enables it to communicate with various control systems and devices. This unit combines a VAV controller, actuator, and pressure sensor into a single modular assembly, simplifying installation and decreasing the need for separate HVAC system components. It gives the VAV system precision control by altering the airflow based on the input received. For communication, this module supports FC (fan coil) and SA (single-acting) bus protocols, which are specifically designed for cooling applications. The device's inbuilt actuator enables the accurate adjustment of airflow dampers to control the volume of air supplied. It also has a built-in air pressure differential sensor for monitoring and measuring the volume of air going through the system. The MS-VMA1610-0 has zone sensor inputs for expanded functionality, allowing it to connect to up to four NS Series Network Zone sensors and up to nine WRZ wireless zone sensors. This allows for the monitoring and control of individual HVAC system zones. Furthermore, the device can accommodate up to five discharge air sensors, which provide reliable input on the temperature and quality of the air released from the system.
