The CS1W-SCB41 serial communications board is an option board that was specifically designed for communication applications with a variety of Omron CS series PLC controllers. It was manufactured by Omron Automation. The CS1W-SCB41 serial communications board enables seamless communication with RS-232C and RS-422A/485 communication protocols. This board has one RS-232C port and one RS-422A/485 port on its front panel. The CS1W-SCB41 serial communications board significantly enhances the communication capabilities of compatible Omron CS series PLCs or programmable controllers by enabling them to operate according to the RS-232C and RS-422A/485 communication standards. The RS-232C protocol is commonly used as a serial communication standard because of its capacity for point-to-point connectivity. Additionally, the RS-422A/485 protocol is commonly employed for communication over longer distances and for multi-point networking applications. It functions as a robust bridge that connects the host CS series PLC with external devices, thereby ensuring efficient data exchange and smooth integration into a variety of industrial automation and control systems. The CS1W-SCB41 board meets the RoHS standards. When the CS1W-SCB41 serial communication board is installed in a CS series programmable controller system, it is connected to the system’s CPU module. It can be connected to Omron CPU modules from the CS1G and CS1H product lines within the CS series. It does not have a built-in Host Link function. The CS1W-SCB41 serial communications board has a TERM switch that can be used to set its terminal resistance ON or OFF. It also has a WIRE switch for selecting a two-wire setting or a 4-wire setting.
