The Omron CV500-BI042 expansion backplane is a tough 4-slot backplane made primarily to improve the I/O capabilities of controllers in the CV500 series. Its main goal is to increase an Omron PLC system's connectivity possibilities so that it may connect to a variety of industrial machinery. This backplane has four slots for different I/O devices, allowing it to support connections to more external devices than a typical PLC system can.
