The PLX31-EIP-MBS4 is an EtherNet/IP to Modbus Serial Communication Gateway from Schneider Electric's PLX3 Gateways series. This device functions to bridge EtherNet/IP Class 1 and Class 3 communication networks with Modbus protocols, specifically Modbus RTU and Modbus ASCII. Connectivity is facilitated through a 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port that supports auto duplex operation.

This gateway is equipped with four isolated serial ports, offering a range of serial interfaces including RS232, RS422, and RS485. It can connect to a maximum of 400 Modbus nodes while managing data effectively with a maximum capacity of 10,000 16-bit registers. The configuration allows for eight Class 1 I/O connections, granting flexibility for various applications.

The serial baud rate supports a wide range from 110 baud to 115.2 kbps, catering to diverse communication needs. Furthermore, node addresses are selectable from 1 to 247, which enhances the system’s scalability. Powering the unit requires a nominal voltage of 24 VDC, operating within a range of 10 to 36 VDC. Its design features an IP20 rating, making it suitable for DIN Rail mounting in control panels and installations. This gateway ensures a maximum RPI of 5 milliseconds per connection, facilitating responsive communication in demanding environments.
