About Kinetix 6500

The Allen-Bradley Kinetix 6500 EtherNet/IP-enabled servo drives are premium-class servo motors with maximum support for safety systems in machine operation. These servo drives are 460 Volts AC supplied and they cover a range of 1.8 to 22 kilowatts of power. The output current of the Kinetix 6500 drives has discrete values of 4 Amps, 9 Amps, 15 Amps, 30 Amps, and 45 Amps. This 2094 Allen-Bradley series has drives with a multi-functional combination of an open EtherNet/IP network with an integrated machine axis control system powered by servo motors. These drives are popular for automation engineers because they can be used to integrate the control functions of servo motors as well as standard induction motors, digital signal exchange, and smart actuator control. These drives are open to any type of device that uses the open Ethernet protocol for communication.

The Kinetix 6500 EtherNet/IP-enabled servo drives are modular systems whose setup does not exclude the possibility of expansion with new modules and functionalities in the future. Software tool support for the Kinetix 6500 series drives is provided with the RSLogix 5000 software platform through which the servo motor management, diagnostics, commissioning, and maintenance activities are configured. Controllers that are compatible with the Kinetix 6500 servo drives are the ControlLogix L6X or L7X series that can support up to 100 axes. There are a lot of safety benefits with the Kinetix 6500 drives that include the safe speed/safe stop configuration, PLe/SIL3 safety performance, safe direction checking, zero speed detection, door opening monitoring, and the maximum acceleration configuration. Allen-Bradley motors and actuators that are compatible with the Kinetix 6500 drives are the MP-series, RDD-series, and the LDC-series motors.
