About SMC Dialog Plus

The SMC Dialog Plus product line from Allen-Bradley is a series of microprocessor-based controllers which are designed to offer a complete range of starting modes which are available on all the controllers as standard features. The starting modes supported by the SMC Dialog Plus controllers include the full voltage start, soft start with selectable kickstart, dual ramp start, and the current limit start with selectable kickstart. Additional controller features are also available which offer additional benefits to clients, including metering, communication capabilities, and protective features. SMC Dialog Plus controllers can operate 3-phase squirrel cage motors rated from 1 to 1000 Amps across 2 input voltage ranges which are 200 to 600 Volts AC and 200 to 480 Volts AC. The controllers’ control input can be either 24 Volts DC/AC or 100 to 240 Volts AC. The SMC Dialog Plus controllers also support stopping options including the soft stop, accu-stop, slow speed with braking, and the SMB (smart motor braking). They also support pump control.

The SMC Dialog Plus controllers support an energy-saving feature which helps in reducing consumed power when the motor is unloaded or when it is running a light load. Each controller comes with a SCANport which is a serial interface port that allows for connectivity with Allen-Bradley 102 HMI modules and 1203 communication modules. Because SMC Dialog Plus controllers contain ESD-sensitive parts, therefore static control precautions need to be followed during testing, installation, and maintenance. Only trained technicians should install and service the SMC Dialog Plus controllers. The enclosures used for the installation of the open-style SMC Dialog Plus controllers should be rated at an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius. The controllers should be mounted so as to allow for uninterrupted airflow through the power modules.
