About SMC-Flex

The SMC-Flex series is a series of smart motor controllers by Allen-Bradley that is designed to provide progressive control for starting the Wye-Delta or 6-lead motors as well as standard 3-phase squirrel cage induction motors. The SMC-Flex controllers are equipped to start and stop the AC motors rated at up to 6000 Horsepower. They also meet and adhere to the international requirements and standards in the motor controller industry and they are specially designed to provide easy modifications and simple initial installation processes, making them even more ideal for use with modern electromechanical starters. The SMC-Flex controllers are available in a variety of input voltage ratings ranging from 200 to 208 Volts AC, 230 Volts AC, 400 to 460 Volts AC, or 500 to 575 Volts AC. They come in different enclosures, including the IP 54, IP 65, Open, Type 4/12, or the Type 12 enclosures. Other specifications of these controllers include an operating frequency range of 50 to 60 Hertz and a control circuit dielectric range of 2200 to 2500 Volts.

Additionally, the SMC-Flex smart motor controllers have many protection features which include jam detection as well as stall protection that keeps the motors and the systems safe from any likely mechanical damage. They also have electronic motor overload protection to protect the engines, power wings, and motor controllers from overcurrent. Other protection features include under-voltage protection that prevents the motors from stopping during operation as well as overvoltage and under-voltage protection to shut down the motors whenever the line voltage rises. Designed to provide ease of use for the operators, the SMC-Flex series controllers feature multiple parameters that monitor how the motor operates, an LCD to enhance easy setup, a keypad for programming purposes, and a built-in serial interface port which allows for communication with different modules.
