About SMC Plus

The Allen-Bradley SMC Plus smart motor controllers can run the 3-phase squirrel cage motors that have a current rating of 1 to 1000 Amps, an input voltage of 200 to 480 Volts AC or 200 to 600 volts AC, and a frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz. Based on specific catalog numbers, these controllers can operate on control power input voltages of 100 to 240 Volts AC or 24 Volts AC or DC. The microprocessors of the controllers adjust themselves to match the input control voltage when it is 100 to 240 Volts AC. The SMC Plus controllers are specially designed and intended to provide a wide range of standard starting modes, including the current limit start and the soft start which both have the selectable kick start as well as the full voltage start and dual ramp start. Additionally, these controllers come with additional features that benefit the users, some of which include extensive protective features, metering, soft stop, pump control, and communication functions.

The Allen-Bradley SMC Plus smart motor controllers have advanced starting and stopping options for offering boosted performance and they include the stipulated slow speed, smart motor braking (SMB), Accu-stop, and slow speed braking. Other benefits of the SMC Plus 3-phase motor controllers is that they can start motors with a full voltage start, soft start, or a current limit start. They also have energy-saving features with no need for exterior wiring or for extra space and they are easy to set up with advanced and quick set up options. Typically, the energy-saver feature of the SMC Plus controllers is used in various applications when the motor is unloaded or lightly loaded for an extended time. When the energy saver is active, the controller continually keeps track of the motor load through the internal feedback circuit board.
