About MDF Integrated Drive Motors
The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation MDF integrated drive motors belong to the MDF series of permanent magnet rotary servo motors with integrated drives. They contain food-grade enclosures, including a shaft seal. The MDF integrated drive motors use circular SpeedTec connectors that are placed at right angles and that are 180 degrees rotatable. Some integrated drive motors in this family do not contain a brake while others feature a 24 Volts DC brake. Additionally, some of the integrated drive motors in this family contain a shaft key while others do not. For the speed, the MDF integrated drive motors feature a rated speed of between 3000 revolutions per minute and 5000 revolutions per minute. Their frame sizes range from 100 millimeters to 130 millimeters. Additionally, their magnetic stack length ranges from 3 inches to 4 inches.
The MDF integrated drive motors feature connectors and indicators such as the network in, hybrid in, hybrid out, network out, digital input/output 1, digital input/output 2, digital input/output 3, and the network status indicators. Note that damage can occur to the bearings and the feedback devices if sharp impact force is applied to the shaft during the installation of the couplings and pulleys or when removing the shaft key. Additionally, the feedback device is prone to suffer damages if leverage is applied to the faceplate to remove devices mounted on the shaft. When removing the protective cap on the MDF integrated drive motors’ shafts, the users can use their bare hands or a screwdriver since using other tools may damage the motor shaft.
