About VPL Servo Motors

The VPL servo motors series is a family of Allen-Bradley low-inertia servo motors, available in 6 frame sizes. The frame sizes include 63, 75, 100, 115, 130 and 165 millimeters frame sizes. The low-inertia servo motors feature torque ratings of 0.46 to 33 N.m and they come with the low-inertia rotors and optional shaft seals. The VPL servo motors feature the single turn or multi-turn high-resolution absolute encoders. These are available with or without the 24 Volts DC brakes. The VPL servo motors are designed to meet the demanding requirements of a high-performance motion system. To ensure prolonged life, the VPL servo motors should be stored within the optimal environmental conditions as defined by the manufacturer. The environmental ratings for each drive are defined in the user manual.

When installing the VPL servo motors, note that adequate protection should be provided to prevent contamination from foreign substances. To prevent water from flowing into the units, make sure to provide a drip loop in the motor cables to ensure that all liquids are carried away from the connections to the motors. The VPL servo motors come with an ambient operating temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. During storage, ensure that the units are stored within the storage temperature range of -30 to 40 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity level that is appropriate for storage is 5 to 95%, non-condensing, and the units should be stored in non-corrosive environments. The VPL servo motors are manufactured with the single motor cables that are required for use with the Allen-Bradley Kinetix VP low-inertia motors.
