About 1609 Uninterruptible Power Supplies

An Uninterruptible Power Supply or UPS is an electrical device which provides emergency power to a load on a machine when the input power source or main power to the machine fails. The 1609 series uninterruptible power supplies are UPS devices manufactured by Allen-Bradley. These devices designed specifically for industrial applications. They are used for industrial and general-purpose application requirements rated at up to 10 kVA. These devices have rugged performances and they feature powerful high-density double-conversion units that are suitable for industrial environments. The 1609 uninterruptible power supplies are available in different Volt-Amps rated variants. They are available in both panel and tower mounting. They also come with different frequency ratings, including ratings of 50 to 60 Hertz, 45 to 65 Hertz, and 47 to 63 Hertz. For networking, both USB and network ports (Ethernet/IP and RS-232 ports) are available in these UPS devices. It is certified with CE, C-Tick and the cULus standard.

The 1609 series uninterruptible power supplies are equipped with LED indicators to alert the operators for different system events. They come with the “Online,” “On Battery,” “Overload,” “Replace Battery,” and the “AVR Trim and Boost” indicators. The standard operational temperature for the batteries is between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the batteries should never exceed 50 degrees Celsius. The 1609 series uninterruptible power supplies have efficient battery packs. They take less than 8 hours to reach 90% of their capacity after discharging with a full load.  These UPS batteries can be used at up to an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level without getting derated. They come with an operating lifetime of 2 to 3 years when they are operated at the proper ambient temperatures. The UPS devices should be placed in well-ventilated spaces with proper airflow.
