About S801+ Soft Starters
The Eaton Cutler-Hammer S801+ soft starters are 3-phase machine control devices. These soft starter devices can handle different industrial applications and they are suitable for work with all motors from fractional Horsepower motors to the motors requiring 1000 Amps of steady-state current. These starters have been designed for normal applications such as use in pumps, fans, and small conveyors. These devices are soft on startup but they have high torque. The S801+ devices are designed to meet all specifications set forth by the UL 508, IEC, CSA, and the CCC standards. The S801+ soft starters can operate in the temperature range between -40 and 50 degrees Celsius. They can be operated at up to a height of 2000 meters above sea level without getting derated. These devices can be installed and operated in any orientation.
The S801+ soft starters control the voltage applied to 3-phase induction motors in order to control the starting torque and to provide smooth starting characteristics. They feature soft starting and asymmetric control features which provide impact-free rises in torque levels and reductions in the current usage. The S801+ devices are equipped with on-board Modbus RTU interfaces which are capable of establishing communication between multiple devices. They can be used to monitor devices and data within PLCs. The front of the S801+ soft starters has a diagnostic display which shows the current operating state and different diagnostic messages. The streamlined menu of the display helps to create easy installation, maintenance, and monitoring processes. These starter devices offer adjustable internal motor protection functions. They also offer different starting and stopping options such as the voltage ramp start, kick start, current limit start, and the soft stop. There are LED indicators on the front panel which show the fault, overload, failure, stall, and loss statuses.
