The 160-BA04NPS1 is part of the bulletin 160 Smart Speed Controller (SSC) of Allen-Bradley. This drive is a DIN rail or panel mounted drive, used for general purpose and simple speed control requirements of a machine or process. This model is a preset speed type wherein, the output speed command is pre-programmed via drive parameters 61-68 wherein up to 8 preset speeds can be defined. The preset speeds are triggered using the open collector inputs available to the control input terminals of the drive along the Forward / Reverse, Start and Stop input channels. The 160-BA04NPS1 is designed to implement Volts/Hertz (V/Hz) control. This control method comes with a user-adjustable ratio of both the parameters to suit the drive’s control characteristics to the requirement of the process. This drive is also capable of implementing soft-starter similar functions as it is also capable of being programmed with acceleration and deceleration including the S-Curve version. Additionally, available stopping modes available to this drive are Ramp to Stop, Coast to Stop, DC Injection braking, and DC Injection braking with auto-stop. The 160-BA04NPS1’s standard features include a hinged finger guard for both top and bottom terminals; Fault and Ready status LED indicators for local monitoring of drive status and operation; Ready or fault indicating panel; DC Bus test point for monitoring of DC Bus voltage; Cooling fan and DIN Rail latch. Optional drive components that may be installed to the 160-BA04NPS1 include a dynamic brake module, a line filter module, Programmer Keypad Module or communication module, 24 VDC interface module, and a capacitor module.

The Allen-Bradley 160-BA04NPS1 is a Variable Speed Drive from the series 160 SSC. The input side of the drive is powered with 380 to 460 Volts AC of three-phase voltage. The 160-BA04NPS1 provides smooth control of the current and torque and reduces undesirable mechanical glitches, thus prolonging the equipment and motor life. The slip compensation is applied by this motor drive to improve speed regulation. This feature helps to maintain the desired commanded output frequency, even when the motor load increases. The drive detects over/under voltage and over temperature. These faults are automatically cleared when you remove the fault cause.
