The PowerFlex 4 series is an Allen-Bradley series of drives designed to address the demands of global OEMs and end-users for affordability, simplicity, and space conservation. These drives come with integral features including built-in keypads with local potentiometers as well as control keys that are active out of the box. Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 4 drives offer powerful motor speed control in a space-saving compact design. Besides, they are the smallest and the most cost-effective drives available in the PowerFlex drive series. Other technical specifications of the PowerFlex 4 drives include Horsepower ranges of 0.25 to 1.5 Horsepower, 0.25 to 5 Horsepower, or 0.5 to 5 Horsepower. They operate on different input voltage ratings, including 100 to 120 Volts AC, 200 to 240 Volts AC, or 380 to 480 Volts AC. They come in various enclosure types, including the IP 20 NEMA 1 or IP 66 NEMA 12, 4x enclosures.
The PowerFlex 4 series features multiple mounting and packaging options, with a maximum ambient temperature of 50 degrees Celsius with minimal spacing between the drives. They can also be stacked side-by-side with a permissible maximum ambient temperature of up to 40 degrees Celsius and they can be DIN rail mounted if they are Frame A and Frame B drives. The PowerFlex 4 drives are easy to operate and set up with a simplified integral keyboard and no programming is required before the operators can use the built-in keypad. These drives also provide network solutions and easy programming features like a remote (LCD) keypad and software for configuration and programming. Additionally, the series features simplified parameter and tag programming through the Logix control platform. Additionally, the PowerFlex 4 drives provide high-quality performance with the sensor-less vector control that adapts to the motor to preserve the high torque level with a variety of speeds.

The PowerFlex 4 drives have a display that shows fault codes for these drives. Common PowerFlex 4 Faults are below:
PowerFlex 4 F004 or F4 UnderVoltage:
This fault indicates Undervoltage, and specifically the DC bus voltage fell below the minimum value. Possible action includes monitoring the incoming AC line power to determine if their is low voltage or interuption of incoming power.
PowerFlex 4 F005 or F5 OverVoltage:
This fault indicates Overvoltage, and specifically the DC bus voltage has exceeded the maximum allowed value. Possible action includes monitoring the incoming AC line power, another possible cause is the bus overvoltage could be caused by the regeneration from the motor due to it decelerating.
PowerFlex 4 F007 or F7 Motor Overload :
The drive has had an internal electronic overload trip. This can be caused when an excessive motor load is present, the user should also check parameter Boost Select which is A084.
To Reset the PowerFlex 4 AC Drives to factory defaults:
The PowerFlex 4 drives can be reset to default settings by selecting Parameter P041 and then inputting the value of 1. This will cause F048 or F48 indicating the params defaulted fault.
