20-COMM-M

The Allen-Bradley 20-COMM-M is an optional communication adapter. This adapter provides MODBUS TCP connectivity, permitting up to 30 TCP connections or 16 simultaneous CIP messaging connections and 1 Modbus/ TCP I/O connection. This drive is compatible for use with a variety of adjustable frequency AC drives such as PowerFlex class 700 drives including PowerFlex 70, PowerFlex 700, PowerFlex 700H, PowerFlex 700S, PowerFlex 700L, PowerFlex 750 as well as PowerFlex Digital AC Drives. It may also be used with Drive Peripheral Interface (DPI) external communication kits and SMC controllers particularly SMC Flex and SMC-50 smart motor controllers. The 20-COMM-M has Four (4) LED status indicators that indicates the DPI adapter communication status, and network connection. It comes with a 20-pin DPI connector that supports DPI protocol and transmission rate of 125 kbps or 500 kbps and an RJ45 connector that supports MODBUS TCP protocol and transmission rates of 10 Mbps Full Duplex 10 Mbps Half Duplex 100 Mbps Full Duplex 100 Mbps Half Duplex. It also comes with a web page switch that allows access to the adapter’s communication web page. It supports up to 30 connections or 16 simultaneous CIP messaging connections and 1 Modbus/ TCP I/O connection

The 20-COMM-M has an electrical consumption of 350 mA at 5 VDC supplied by the host (drive or DPI External Comms Kit). It must be operated at a temperature range of 10…50 °C (14…122 °F) and stored to a location with temperature of -40…85 °C (-40…185 °F) and relative humidity of 5…95% non-condensing.

The 20-COMM-M also features Ethernet connection through an RJ-45 connector and it uses the EtherNet Cable. The EtherNet Connector used is the RJ-45 type of connector it ensures a reliable data transfer is achieved. The 20-COMM-M also features a web page switch abbreviated as the SW2. This enables or disables adapter web pages. The 20-COMM-M comes with access to either of the Powerflex drives and also the connected peripherals on the network that the adapter is usually connected to. The module also features a configurable e-mail messaging feature for sending messages to the desired addresses whenever the selected drive experiences a fault. It comes with a user-defined fault action that helps in determining how the adapter and the connected drive connect to the drive. The module uses Ethernet II framing for the Modbus/TCP function protocol.
