The 150-A35NB-ND is a microcomputer-based soft-starter device that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This device is part of Allen-Bradley’s SMC-2 series of Smart Motor Controllers mainly used to control the start-up and shutdown of industrial AC motors. In effect, the current generation is limited and possible mechanical damage due to the motor’s rotational direction and speed. The 150-A35NB-ND mainly features a variety of control methods in implementing protective start-up and shutdown as well as energy savings. Configurable control methods supported by this soft-starter include Selectable Soft Start, Current Limit, Across-the-Line Starting, and Soft Stop with the latter method being optional. Each control method has individually configurable times to custom fit the intended operation. Specifically, available adjustments include 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, and 30 seconds for a soft start; 15 and 30 seconds for currently limited start and 1/10 second for across the line starting. Optional Soft stop adjustments are 5, 10, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 110 seconds. This controller is powered by an external supply voltage of 380-460 VAC with a frequency of 50 and 60 Hz. It has an open-type enclosure with an integrated interface option installed that has a control voltage of 100-120V (+10%, –15%), 50 and 60 Hz, single-phase. With the installed interface option, the 150-A35NB-ND is capable of providing direct On/Off control via an external input device. This feature may be used in eliminating the use of an additional contactor which may effectively simplify wiring and contribute to cost-effectiveness. This option also provides the soft-stop capability to minimize load shifting or spillage during motor stops.

The 150-A35NB-ND SMC-2 Smart Motor Controller by Allen-Bradley is a compact multi-purpose, non-combination, solid-state motor controller in the Bulletin 150 SMC-2 series of intelligent motor starters which provides a micro-computer start for a standard three-phase squirrel cage induction motor. This 3-phase smart motor controller has 3 operational start modes, and it has a power saver option, with inbuilt protective features. It offers stall protection during starting and running conditions, and it is has a 100 to 120 Volts AC control interface option which provides ON/OFF control directly from an external device, a fully programmable auxiliary contact configured for either instantaneous or up-to-speed operation, and a soft stop feature which helps minimize shifting during stopping. The 150-A35NB-ND, like all SMC-2 solid-state controllers, offers users 3 operational start modes, and it can be configured with DIP switches and a rotary digital switch which ensures reliability, repeatability, and precision. It has an operating temperature range of 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, with a storage and transport temperature range of –40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit at 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity, and it has a maximum operating height of 1000 meters without de-rating. This smart starter is built to withstand 30G of operational shock for 11 milliseconds, with a peak vibration of 2.5G for 60 minutes, and it comes in an open-type rated enclosure. The 150-A35NB-ND has a total mounting volume of 214 x 250 x 160 millimeters, with an approximate weight of 4.5 kilograms, and it has UL, CSA, and CE certifications.
